Nigerian Minister for foreign affairs, Geoffrey Onyeama shared the notice signed by the consulate general of Nigeria New York, in his tweet.
Evacuees are expected to have their hand sanitizers prepared for use during the flight, wear their face masks, and adhere strictly to the instructions of the Port Health Services (PHS) officials.
The second evacuation flight from the United States of America to Nigeria has been fixed for Friday, July 3rd, 2020.
The flight which is being coordinated by the Nigerian missions in the United States of America will depart Newark Liberty international airport, New Jersey on the scheduled date at 21:15hrs and arrive at Murtala Muhammed International Airport Lagos by 10:35hrs the morning of Saturday, July 4, 2020.
According to the notice, the evacuation flight will use the Ethiopian airline’s flight number ET509, and intending evacuees already registered with the Nigerian missions in the US, are expected to purchase their tickets from the airline at the cost of “$1250 for economy class and $2800 for business class for adults/child fare including all taxes” with the usual percentage reduction for infants under 2 years.
It reads further,
“all prospective evacuees who purchased tickets should forward name number and concert address of their next of kin in Nigeria to [email protected] for confirmation which will be done on a ‘first-come-first-served’ basis.”
In line with the protocols spelt out by the Nigerian Presidential Task Force on COVID-19, all intending evacuees are to present an original COVID-19 negative result, not older than 14 days from the departure date, and also undergo a temperature check, four hours before departure.
“Any intending evacuee without the stipulated test results or a body temperature above 38° centigrade, or any symptoms suggestive of covid-19 will not be allowed to check in” it said.
Onyeama added that intending evacuees who are yet to register may contact Ethiopian Airlines or the US Consulate in New York.
