Lagos Judiciary Assures Nigeria Correctional Centres of Support

The Lagos State Government has pledged its support to the realisation of the mandate of Nigeria Correctional Centres in order to attain a saner society free from chaos and disorderliness.

The State Chief Judge, Honourable Justice Kazeem Alogba, gave the assurance on Thursday when he received a delegation led by the Deputy Comptroller, Correctional Centres in Lagos State, during a courtesy visit to his office in Ikeja.

Alogba commended the move by the team to collaborate with other stakeholders in the Judicial Sector, such as the Ministry of Justice and the State Judiciary, in ensuring that the society is peaceful and safe.

Speaking further, the Chief Judge applauded efforts of the Correctional Centres in the State to remould and reintegrate inmates into the society, bearing in mind the current situation of the country, adding that the government will continue to support the Centres to attain the goal of the criminal justice administration system in the country.

Justice Alogba also advised the delegation to endeavour to post officers to various Magisterial Districts to ease the process of community services.

Earlier in his remarks, the Deputy Comptroller of the Correctional Centres, Mr Sunday Tae Atotebi, thanked the Chief Judge for the warm reception and the readiness shown to address the challenges faced by the Centres.

He, therefore, called for a collaborative approach from the State Judiciary on the areas of Community Service, Parole, Probation and Restorative Justice measures.
