Texas, Florida forced to reinforce their covid restrictions

The cities of Texas and Florida have been forced to reverse their relaxing of restrictions as covid infections surge across parts of the US.

Texas Governor, Greg Abbott has ordered bars to close and restaurants to reduce occupancy by half, while Florida has ordered bars to stop serving alcohol.

Top US infectious disease expert, Dr Anthony Fauci said the nation has a “serious problem”, adding that “the only way we’re going to end it is by ending it together”.

The official number of the country’s covid infections is expected to pass 2.5 million this weekend.
