Governor Bello Approves fund for investigation into solid minerals inventory in kogi

Kogi state Government has made moves to take comprehensive inventory of the state’s solid minerals, deposits by Approving the necessary funding for investigation the matter.

The state Commissioner in charge of the ministry of solid minerals and Natural resources, Engr Abubakar Bashir Muhammed made the revelation while addressing newsmen on Wednesday shortly after the state executive council meeting.

Engr Bashir, who applauded the Governor for the pragmatic step also promised that result of the investigation would be made available to government and investors within two weeks.

The investigation, he revealed, would be handled by the National Steel Raw Materials Exploration Agency (NSRMEA) who are saddled with the responsibilities of Geological studies to identify reported mineral occurrences in various part of kogi state, mineral inventory, sampling and analysis.

The Commissioner said the exercise is a clear demonstration of the will by the government of Alhaji Yahaya Bello to boost the state’s Economy through solid minerals development.

He added that the sector is literally a gold mine which the administration is determined to exploit in order to diversify kogi’s Economy, create employment, arrest youth restiveness, stimulate indigenous commerce, and prosper the entire state.

The NSRMER, he stressed, has promised to make the report available to intending inventors in the sector for their consumption.

“By this approval, Governor Yahaya Bello has again demonstrated that he is man of his words. The solid minerals sector is one capable of stimulating economic growth and thank God His Excellency is determined to positively turn around the fortunes of the state by not just saying but also doing it”
