There is no confusion on Oyo govt’s support to UCH, College of Medicine- Adisa, Makinde’s spokesman

1) OYSG gave equipment worth N2m to UCH(received and acknowledged)

2) UCH dropped a N1bn shopping list with OYSG

3) UCH requested for support to treat Oyo COVID-19 positive patients.

4) OYSG ticked the most pressing items on the N1bn list amounting to N25m, paid to suppliers, who had the duty of directly supplying to UCH.

5). OYSG approved N5m revolving fund to support UCH’s treatment of Oyo COVID-19 patients.

6). Commissioner for Finance approved the release of the two layers of funds.(N25m paid to suppliers of medical items and N5m released to Accountant General’s office for onward disbursement to UCH in line with established procedures.)

7) Meetings of COVID-19 Task Force were held online/ offline, UCH’s CMD was absent. Commissioner of Finance was mandated to make public all COVID-19 related expenses, releases and receipts to the COVID-19 endowment fund. He addressed the press with details.

8) 24 hours after, UCH came up with denials, distinguishing between UCH and College of Medicine/Department of Virology.

9) OYSG, relying on UCH’s segregation approach further clarified it had given support worth N32m to UCH and N86.9m to Department of Virology, located inside the UCH.

10) Virology Department, UCH acknowledged receipt of support worth N86.9 million in a letter forwarded to OYSG.

“NOW, the UCH needed to understand the procedures of receiving approved cash from govt does not entail government official loading the money into a truck and delivering the same at your doorsteps.”

“You will have to deploy designated officials to go sign for either the cheque or cash at Accountant General’s office.”

“Did UCH make appropriate enquiries before rushing for denials? NO.”

“Did the UCH intimate the OYSG the medical suppliers were experiencing logistic challenges delivering the goods, even after a COVID-19 meeting was informed that a closure had been brought to the first set of support to the institution with CMD present?”

NOTE: The UCH is not one of the hospitals owned by OYSG. It’s owned by Federal Government. Whatever hand of fellowship the OYSG extends can only remain at its convenience. Not by compulsion. Afterall it is on record that the incumbent OYSG has extended some of the best form of support to the UCH in recent years.
