Former Marathon world record-holder banned for four years.

Former world record holder for Marathon, Wilson Kipsang has been handed a  four year ban from the sport for reasons of anti-doping rule violations.

The double London Marathon winner was banned by the World Athletics Body because he between April 2018 and May 2019, the 38 year old missed a total of four “whereabouts appointments”.

As part of the rules in the sport that when an athlete misses a minimum of three doping tests within 12 months, he or she gets an automatic ban.

Kipsang said he missed the May 2019 test due to a traffic accident he even went ahead to provide a photo; after much investigations it was discovered that the image was August 2019.

The World Athletic Disciplinary Tribunal said the Kenyan is ban with effect immediately. For doping test failures and tampering by providing false evidence and witness testimony.

Kipsang was a bronze medalist at the London 2012 Olympics he has also won the Berlin,New York and Tokyo marathons and finally he is the sixth fastest marathon runner in history, with a personal best of two hours,three minutes and 13 seconds.
