David Silva dazzled as Man City sets a new Premier league goalscoring record as they put five past Newscastle at the Etihad stadium without any form of reply.
Pep Guardiola’s men really took their defeat to Southampton last time out all out on Newcastle with a comprehensive victory against Newcastle United. Man City produced some amazing goals through Riyad Mahrez, Gabriel Jesus, David Silva, Reheem Sterling and Federico Fernandez own goal.
Newcastle came with a game a plan of trying to keep possession and try to catch City off guard with a counter attack, but such plans only lasted 10minutes in when Jesus finished from Silva’s cutback.
Newcastle were obviously and comprehensively outclassed on Wednesday and could hardly cope with City’s quality and it wasn’t long before a second goal came. Losing the ball 35 yards out In which was pounced on by Kevin De Bryune who gave a simple pass to Phil Foden who then found Riyad Mahrez to side-foot home for City’s second. The goal meant City became the first team to have at least five of their players reach a ten goal mark in a single season in the premier league since Everton in 1984/85.
City scored their third and fourth goal in the 58th and 65th minute respectively through goals from Ferdrico’s own goal and an amazing precise free-kick from David Silva 25 yards out. It was all capped up with a superb goal from Raheem Sterling at added time.
City with this victory all but seals Their second place finish. They are still 23 points away from Liverpool in first but they now stand nine points above Chelsea in third.
With the way they defeated Newcastle on Wednesday showing their highly dominative play, one would beg to ask how have they lost nine times this season.
