Lagos State shuts down businesses flouting COVID-19 safety measures

In line with the safety measures against COVID-19, some business centres in Lagos State have been shut down for failing to comply.

About 10 business centres including Harvest Lounge, Heavens Suites, Bay Lounge, were sealed by the Lagos State Government through the Lagos State Safety Commission.

The sealed centres failed to comply with the directives of the government on social distancing and ban on social and religious gathering.

The Director General, Mr. Lanre Mojola led the operation and shut down business centres including The Harvest Lagos, Bay Lounge, The Heavens Suites, Angle Villa Bar, Ehi Guest House and Gardens Egbeda, Mountain Top Hotels and Suites Ojodu.

The operation was carried out in the late hours of Friday and Saturday night.

Mr. Seun Awojobi, the Technical Adviser to the Commission said that the team was attacked and shot at at Osigold hotels and Bar in Baruwa Ipaja, Lagos whilst carrying out its operation on Friday night.

He further revealed that the Hotel had over 100 people clubbing and dancing within its premises flouting the State Government directive and contravening the safety measures of COVID-19 of the State.

The Director General urged the citizens to take the fight against COVID-19 more seriously to complement the effort of the Government and further curb the spread of the virus.

He warned other facilities in the state, saying that the Commission would continue to shutdown erring and non compliant facilities across the State.
