Osimhen has been locked in talks with Napoli who have agreed a reported 81m deal with Lille.
According to Germany-based Nigerian journalist, Oma Akatugba who is close to the striker, an announcement is imminent after the medicals which showed the Nigeria international in top health.
“Medicals done @victorosimhen9 is in top health. Everyone in Naples are happy. The club president is smiling from ear to ear. The announcement will happen soon,” Akatuga said on Twitter.
This will bring to an end the many complications that threatened to scupper the move.
It will be recalled that Osimhen visited Naples in June to meet with Napoli owner, Aurelio De Laurentiis and coach Gennaro Gattuso although it was said that he was not keen on the move after the meeting.
Omokoshaban sports gathered that the striker went on to part ways with his two European agents who reportedly were going after their interest in their negotiations with Napoli.
The move however, will continue Osimhen’s career rise after a fantastic season with Lille. In the 2019/2020 season, the 21-year-old scored 18 goals in 31 games in all competition with six assists.
The move became inevitable as Gattuso revealed that first-choice striker, Arkadiusz Milik wants to leave this summer, and if the Super Eagles striker finally joins the Serie A side for the touted 81m fee, he will make history as their costliest signing ever.
We learnt that the highest Napoli have paid so far for a new player was 39million for the transfer of Argentine striker, Gonzalo Higuain from Real Madrid in 2013.
The Italian tactician admits Milik wants a change of scenery as the star forward eyes an exit.
“It’s difficult to find someone better than Milik,” Gattuso told Sky Sport Italia.
“However, when a player believes his time at a club is over and he wants a change of scenery, you have to listen to him.
“You can’t try to keep someone against their will, or it’s difficult to get them to listen or have the right mentality. You have to respect the wishes of the player.”
