Two Suspected Kidnappers Killed, Two Others Arrested in Kogi

Two suspected kidnappers were gunned down and two armed robbers arrested in Kogi as government intensifies its onslaught against criminal elements in the state.

A combined team of security operatives patrolling the Ajegu-Idah road on Tuesday foiled a kidnapping operations during which two of the kidnappers were gunned down as a result of exchange of fire between the security men and the criminal elements.

Senior Special Assistant to the governor on security, Idah Local Government, Hon Abu Odoma, who confirmed this, stated that the kidnap gang has been terrorizing road users along Ajegu-Idah road for years.

He stated that the kidnap gang met their waterloo when the security team invaded their hideout which led to a gun duel that resulted in the killing of the two of them while three other members escaped with bullet wounds.

In a similar vein, two suspected leaders of an armed robbery gang were arrested in Dekina Local Government Area of the state while planning an operation on the same Tuesday.

The criminals were arrested by the joint security taskforce following security tip off.

Items recovered from suspects include axe and other dangerous weapons.
