N7 Million Snatched By Robbers Not Government’s Or Overhead Cost For Ssg’s Office – Niger Govt

The Office of Secretary to the Government of Niger State strongly condemned and frowned at a story published on Social Media in which it was alleged that four Armed Robbers snatched the sum of N50 million from one of the Accountants of the Office of the SSG.

The story which emanated from a purported report by the online jobbers that N50 million cash meant for overhead cost of the Office was falsehood, malicious as well as adventure to spread false information with the intention to rubbish the present administration and a diversionary tactics to attack the government.

However, the money stolen from the Cahiers was N7 million meant for the payment to a contractor who supplied Rice and Vegetable Oil during the Eid-el Kabir Sallah Festival. The Contractor, who had signed all relevant documents as regards to the payment, insisted that he wanted cash which made the Account Department to send its staff to the Bank in order to cash the Cheque for the Contractor.

Therefore, the N7 million stolen by Armed Robbers from the Cashiers does not belong to the Government or overhead cost for SSG’s Office, rather it belongs to the Contractor who supplied the said items.

Government would not succumb to the threat and nefarious activities of some disgruntled elements who are working round the clock to subvert the good intentions of the present administration designed to deliver the State from stagnation and under development.

Online jobbers and members of the fourth estate of the realm are to please adhere strictly to the ethical codes, desist from yellow journalism and exhibit professional standard through balancing of reports before going to press. Sensational reporting would not augur well for the development of the society.
