Fact: IS Two Hungry Kids Aged 12 And 14 Burnt To Death For Stealing Food To Eat in Nigeria?

Source, in a report on opera news, claim that two boys were killed for stealing food to eat in Nigeria.

According to the report that is making wave on social media said ” The killing of two Nigerian kids through jungle justice have attracted widespread condemnation and criticism from international communities. The kids who were accused of stealing food were burnt to ashes by the mobs accusing them of being criminals. Nigeria is one of the few countries in the world where jungle justice is very rampant. The government have repeatedly tried to curb this ugly trend of jungle justice, still without much efforts.

The kids who confessed that they were hungry as a result of the long lockdown and the pandemic of Coronavirus that have crippled nearly every sector of the economy were burnt to ashes with tyres and fuel by the angry mob. However, the government have sworn to take action and bring everyone involved in the criminal act to face the full Wrath of the law. This kind of killing is what south Africans called lacing.

As a daylight nightmare happened in Nigeria where the palliatives promised by the government is yet to be given to the people. Most Nigerians confessed that they have been very hungry as pictures and videos have emerged of some people killing their pets for food. Despite being the largest economy in Africa and having extreme wealth from crude oil, the margin between the poor and the rich in the country is like the distance between Venus and Pluto.

Without showing mercy, the kids were put in the tyres together and set ablaze. One of the eyewitnesses, Anita said, “This is the one of the most wicked act, I have seen this so far, they were burnt alive. I can’t imagine what they were going through.” Those who tried to intervene where severely beaten also. The fact that people stood to watch and record this inhumane act without calling the police shows that the world have gone astray.

The kids are roughly between the ages of 12 and 14 years. They were poorly dressed which shows that they may be from one of the poorest neighbourhoods in the country. This shows that the gap between the rich and the poor in Nigeria is ever widening. Despite the government claims to be fighting corruption, NDDC department reported more than 50 billion Naira looting just within the period of this pandemic. Sometimes, those who carry out these jungle justice acts go unpunished and the police ends up arresting innocent citizens and passers-by.

You can also recall about Alu-4 where four universities undergraduates were wrongly accused of being criminals and burnt to ashes before their innocence was established, an act that almost brought the country to a standstill. Nigeria has a long history of jungle justice even in this 21st century when the rule of law is prevalent. Hopefully, the government will track down the perpetrators of this heinous crime and bring them to justice for sniffing life out of poor innocent kids who are just out looking for food to eat because of hunger arising from Coronavirus and lockdown. If the government failed should the citizens also fail themselves?”.
