Gov. Fintiri flags off construction of 60 bed capacity cottage hospital

Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri Monday flagged off construction of a new sixty-bed capacity cottage hospital in Shellegn with a pledge to also construct two kilometres of township road in Shellegn and complete the abandoned Kiri Shellegn road.

The Governor at an event that held in Shellegn during his one day official visit to the area said the ceremony could not have come at a better time than now, when the world is grappling with the public health challenge occasioned by COVID-19 Pandemic.

According to him, government is challenged by the lack of secondary healthcare facility in the area and the massive support his administration has been enjoying from the good and peace loving people of Shelleng, he decided to build a befitting cottage hospital for the community.

He revealed that government has purchased and distributed Hospital equipment to primary health care Facilities in the twenty one local government Areas in addition to construction of Health Facilities at Primary and Secondary Health Care levels in the state.

He added that massive rehabilitation of existing health facilities in Adamawa is ongoing while his administration has embarked on establishment of Health Insurance Scheme to make Health Care Services accessible by all in the State.

Earlier, the Commissioner of Health, Professor Abdullahi Isa while speaking said the hospital project will cost government over one hundred and seventy nine million naira and therefore called on the people of Shellegn to support the contractor.

There were goodwill messages from the Member State Assembly representing Shellegn, Alhaji Abubakar Isa, the Chairman Shellegn local government council Malam Danjuma Abdullahi and Commissioner of Culture and Mr Tourism Adamu Titus.

The Governor during the visit had inspected ongoing construction of seventeen kilometres Shellegn Bakta rural road awarded by his administration where in an interview with newsmen expressed appreciation with pace and quality of the work.

While at the palace of Amna Shellegn, Governor Umaru Fintiri told the royal father that his administration will soon renovate Government Secondary School Shellegn among other key projects for the development of the area.

Responding, Amna Shellegn Alhaji Abdullahi Isa Dason thanked Governor Umaru Fintiri for his concern and welfare to the people of Shellegn and commended him on improved security in the area.

He appealed to stakeholders in Shellegn local government area to unite and rally round the Governor whom he described as a man with passion for a development of the area and Adamawa as a whole.
