On the above subject matter, we have previously established points 1 and 2 concerning what to consider before ordaining anyone into leadership position in the Church.
In continuation, below are points 3-10.
3) One that has a level of spiritual capacity and is willing to develop higher capacity.
Acts 6 vs. 3
“Therefore, brethren, seek out from among you seven men of good reputation, full of the Holy Spirit and wisdom, whom we may appoint over this business”
According to the above scripture, must be a person of good reputation, FILLED WITH THE HOLY GHOST AND WISDOM.
Ordination is not a title; it is a responsibility.
The one to be ordained must be above the general congregation on certain spiritual scale. Can this person handle basic ministry duties like prayers, evangelism, Bible study class etc.?
4) One that has embraced the spirit and wisdom of the house
Acts 6 vs. 3
“Therefore, brethren, seek out from among you seven men of good reputation, full of the Holy Spirit and wisdom, whom we may appoint over this business”
FILLED WITH WISDOM.
There are people ordained in one church that are still looking and functioning like people in another church. They don’t have the spirit and wisdom of the house.
You have to be careful with these groups of people because once oil is poured, it cannot be retrieved.
A Servant must look like his Master.
5) One that is not being projected to you by certain clique and group in the church.
I Samuel 16 vs. 10
“Thus Jesse made seven of his sons pass before Samuel. And Samuel said to Jesse, “The LORD has not chosen these.”
When it comes to ordination, it is not ‘majority carries the vote’. It is a departure from Majority to the Almighty.
Everyone was projected except David. Be careful of anyone who everyone wants you to ordain. They can also use him against you since he is their candidate.
6) One that is presently serving and labouring with you in his own little capacity.
I Samuel 16 vs. 11
“And Samuel said to Jesse, “Are all the young men here?” Then he said, “There remains yet the youngest, and there he is, keeping the sheep.”
What is the present spiritual state of the person?
What is he doing in the church at the moment?
If he or she is not an example of spiritual service, such ordination will do more damage than good.
How can a man not available for mid-week service be ordained to manage people who have never missed mid-week service?
7) One whose loyalty to you and the vision God gave you cannot be doubted.
21“Therefore, of these men who have accompanied us all the time that the Lord Jesus went in and out among us, 22 Beginning from the baptism of John to that day when He was taken up from us, one of these must become a witness with us of His resurrection.”
Must have passed the loyalty test. It is even better to have loyal men who are not able men, than to have able men who are not loyal. Loyalty is superior to Ability. If they are loyal to the vision and the visioneer, they will one day generate ability. But if they have ability without loyalty, they will one day use that ability against you.
One whose Heart is after God, after you and after the Vision of the Ministry.
I Samuel 16 vs. 7
“But the LORD said to Samuel, “Do not look at his appearance or at his physical stature, because I have [c]refused him. For[d] the LORD does not see as man sees; for man looks at the outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart.”
The heart of the matter is a matter of the Heart.
Men looks at the outward appearance for placement but God looks at the Heart.
Men look at the outward appearance for acceptance but God looks at the Heart.
You must constantly ask God to reveal the Heart of the men around you.
Somebody can have a good head for the oil, with a bad heart that will corrupt the oil.
9) One that your Ministry raised spiritually and not a stolen or borrowed vessel.
21“Therefore, of these men who have accompanied us all the time that the Lord Jesus went in and out among us”
He has been around from the baptism of John till date. He has been around from the baptism of John till date. You can see a very robust spiritual history with them.
Don’t steal people from other churches and ordain them.
He who has rebelled to a Grace will always rebel to any other Grace.
It is safer and better for people to be raise within the house before placement in the house.
Any church you enter and you become minister immediately without any process of integration has no structure and future. It is a very wrong place to be.
10) The person that God personally asked you to ordain, even when it does not meet several requirements.
I Samuel 16 vs. 12-13
“So he sent and brought him in. Now he was ruddy, with [f]bright eyes, and good-looking. And the LORD said, “Arise, anoint him; for this is the one!” 13Then Samuel took the horn of oil and anointed him in the midst of his brothers; and the Spirit of the LORD came upon David from that day forward. So Samuel arose and went to Ramah.”
He was the youngest, yet God said ‘Ordained’
He doesn’t look like it, yet God said ‘Ordained’
He was not in the house when the Prophet came, God said ‘Ordained’.
As Leaders, we must be flexible to know when God is moving us from our tradition to His revelation.
For example, a new member who understand tithing and has never failed in tithing even from his former church is more useful to a vision than an old member who is still having issues believing in Tithe.
