Felele Fire Incident: Kogi Govt Makes Move To Avert Future Occurences

Kogi State Government is currently making frantic efforts to forestall future fire disaster in the state.

To this end, the State Security Adviser, Retired Commander Jerry Omodara has visited the Controller General, Federal Fire Service in Abuja on behalf of Governor Yahaya Bello to seek for possible ways of Collaboration.

The move is a conscious bid by the Government of Alh. Yahaya Bello led administration to prevent the unfortunate fire incident that claimed tens of lives at Felele, Lokoja on Wednesday 23rd September, 2020.

Commander Omodara conveyed the message of the Governor at the meeting on the immediate need to deploy Fire Fighting Equipment to the major Federal Highways in Kogi, even as the State is making frantic efforts in getting some equipment because of the strategic location of the State.

He said government is also considering recruitment of Staff for the State Fire Service towards getting more manpower to combat fire disaster in the state.

The State Security Adviser appealed to the Federal Fire Service to deploy more fire fighting equipment to its State Command.

The Controller General, Dr Liman Ibrahim while responding, commiserated with the government of Kogi State and the family of the victims, and prayed God to grant the family fortitude to bear the loss.

He promised to swift into immediate action of getting back the fire truck to the State and also help in training of more firefighters for the State.
