Comptroller General of Customs Honours Western Marine Officers For Seizure of Over 10 Tonnes of Cannabis Sativa

On 21st April 2020, the operatives of the Coastal and Harbour Patrol of the Command based on credible intelligence arrested and seized over 10 Tonnes of Cannabis Sativa (Marijuana) valued at over 1.02 Billion Naira which happens to be the highest seizure of Cannabis Sativa on high sea by Nigeria Customs Service. The seized item was destroyed on the 26th June 2020 at Falola Beach in Badagry West Local Government Area of Lagos State in the presence of relevant sister agencies, chairman of Badagry West LGA and traditional rulers.

It is on this premise that the CGC Col. Hameed Ibrahim Ali (Rtd.) issued letters of commendation to gallant Officers and Men involved in the aforementioned seizure.

In a related development, the Command made the following seizures from July to September 2020:

a. Foreign Rice: 1,033 Bags of 50 Kg each

b. Vegetable Oil: 24 Kegs of 25 Litres Each

c. New Women Slippers: 26 Cartons

d. PMS: 331 Kegs of 25litres each

e. Used Shoes : 5 Pairs

f. Fertilizer: 52 Kegs of Organic Fertilizer (5Ltr each) and

g. Beauty Products : 36 by 250ML each

TOTAL DPV N18, 893,545.00
