The Nigerian army has said that they are going to commence nationwide “cyberwarfare” operation.
The army made the announcement following an endless protests against police brutality in the country.
Omokoshaban learn that army said the operation is going to be under the banner of Exercise Crocodile Smile, an annual exercise hold by the army in the last quarter of every year.
The announcement was made on Saturday at a press briefing held at a military camp in Ngamdu village, Borno State.
The army was represented at the press briefing by its Chief of Training and Operations, Nuhu Angbazo, a major general.
According to the report by Premium Time, Journalist were not allow to enter the event.
The development was later communicated to newsmen via statement by army’s spokesperson, Colonel Sagir Musa.
The army said the operation is “deliberately intended” to be all-encompassing, to include cyberwarfare exercises designed to “identify, track and counter negative propaganda in the social media and across the cyberspace”.
“This is the first-ever cyber warfare to be conducted in the history of the African armed forces; that will also improve Nigeria army’s capacity and resilience against hostile cyber acts in defence of our national security and critical national infrastructure,” it said.
Despite army didn’t mentioned the Ongoing Protest across the country, their are strong believe that the action was taken to clamped down the protesters.
