We Don’t know Who Attacks #ENDSARS Protester — Kwara Governor

Kwara State Governor, Abdullrahaman Abdullrazaq they don’t know thugs that attacks #ENDSARS Protester in the State.

The governor say this when he visited one of the protester Mr. Sheriff Olawale, one of the protester who was injured during the attack in the hospital.

The Governor urge police to investigate who is responsible for the attacks and brought them to book.

He said “I visited Sheriff Olawale, one of the protesters that was attacked during the #ENDSARS protest today. What happened was unfortunate and we will foot the bills of the injured. We have also asked the Police to investigate the attack and anybody involved should be brought to book.

Here in Kwara, we welcome peaceful protesters. Not a single person has been touched, molested or harmed since Monday. So we were shocked today to see attacks on the protesters who included musician Yusuf Olusola “CDQ” and other esteemed Kwarans.

Earlier, I met with CDQ and a few other protesters to explain to them our position on the peaceful protest which we deem to be lawful and within the rights of the citizens. We had tried on Tuesday to meet with people to be chosen by the protesters to represent them; unfortunately, there was some sort of disagreement over that and we couldn’t meet. We’ll always engage the youths and others, and make sure that the right things are done.

In the protest I joined on Thursday, the major complaint was about an officer at F Division which the Police Commissioner promised to look into. Some of the protesters also complained of how to get their complaints to the Police. So, we agreed to set up an Ombudsman that would take people’s complaints to the Police.

The protesters have not been violent in the state. But we can’t rule out hijack of the process as it happened today. I don’t know who is responsible for that. For me to have marched with the youths on Monday means that we will not be part of any violence.

I urge the protesters to protest peacefully and the government will meet their demands. We have seen five-for-five and the federal government is gradually meeting them. Not everything will be addressed in a day. But over a period of time, the federal government will meet those specific demands, among others, as the Police is under the federal government.”
