Gov Zulum pays surprise visit to 5 schools, questions teachers, students

Borno Governor, Babagana Umara Zulum, a University Professor, on Thursday, paid unscheduled visits to five primary and secondary schools in Maiduguri, during which he evaluated the capacity of teachers and the learning of students.

Zulum was at Kushari primary school, Arabic Teachers College, Government Day Secondary School, Command Secondary school and Women day Secondary school.

Governor Zulum, who visited the schools in the morning hours, spent most of his time monitoring teaching, and asking students some academic relevant to their levels.

Zulum, an Engineer, asked students questions in physics, chemistry, agriculture and Biology.

Worried by inadequate science Teachers on ground, the governor directed the ministry of education to immediately deploy more science Teachers to the schools visited.

Prof. Zulum emphasized that his administration would accord special attention to science subjects in secondary schools while maintaining the quality of teaching and learning in all other subjects.

After all the assessment, the Governor directed the ministry of education to submit requirements of all the schools particular needs in laboratories for science subjects, library and additional toilet facilities.
