Nigerian Police has react to the video making round the internet of a drunked Police officers disarm by crowd in Abuja.
The Police Officer was said to have disarmed by the resident to prevent him from shooting an innocent citizens after he was seen drunked at CBN junction close to police command headquarters in Abuja on Saturday, November 28th.
Police while reacting to the video In a statement on Sunday morning, November 29, by the spokesperson of the Abuja Police Command, ASP Yusuf Mariam, says the officer has been arrested and will undergo a psychological and medical evaluation before he will be made to face a disciplinary panel.
The Statement further read that the character exhibited by the police did not depict the image of Nigeran police force.
The Statement read in part ”Following the viral video of the ‘Drunk Policeman’ at CBN Junction, the FCT Police Command has identified, arrested and taken into custody the Police Inspector shown in the video.
2. Furthermore, the Commissioner of Police CP. Bala Ciroma has ordered that the Police officer be subjected to psychological and medical evaluation, preparatory to the commencement of disciplinary actions against him.
3. In view of the above, the Commissioner of Police wishes to unequivocally state that the behaviour portrayed by the Policeman in the video does not depict the standard discipline of the Nigeria Police Force.
4. While urging residents to remain calm, the Command wishes to reiterate its unflinching commitment to the protection of lives and property in the Federal Capital Territory”
