Former governor of Imo State and Senator representing Imo West Senatorial District, His Excellency Owelle Rochas Okorocha has called for like minded, progressive and honest politicians to come together under one umbrella to rescue Nigeria from the political nightmare which it has been plunged into by some politicians who do not mean well for the country.

Speaking during the commissioning of some road projects completed by the Rivers State government, the Ogboko born multi-billionaire philanthropist and real estate mogul, lamented the predominance of those he referred to as “bad people” across Nigerian political Parties, arguing that the only way out of the quagmire is for the good people across various political Parties to come together to redeem the country.

According to the former governor; “”There are bad people in APC and bad people in PDP. The good people in APC and PDP must come together to rescue this country in 2023.”

The governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike who played host to Okorocha acknowledged that Okorocha is a longstanding ally and friend of his. He traced his relationship with Okorocha to his (Wike’s) days as an official of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria, when Okorocha was a major federal government contractor and one of the biggest players in the Nigerian political mix.

The Rivers State governor also clarified that Okorocha is a member of the All Progressives Congress, while himself remains a proud leader in the PDP, and that bringing the former Imo State governor to inaugurate projects in his State should not be misconstrued as him fraternizing with the opposition Party.

According to him; “Let me tell you what you may not understand. I don’t believe that you must only have friends in your own party. You must have to build relationships across boards but that doesn’t mean that you’ll sell your party. Senator Okorocha has been my friend since I was Deputy National President of ALGON down to when I became the President of ALGON. He was a member of the PDP. “
