The Executive Chairman of Kogi Koton Karfe local government, Hon. Isah Abdulkarim Sani and his counterpart, Hon. Muhammed Muhktar Shu’aibu of Bassa local government in their separate remarks condole with the family of the deceased and the entire community on behalf of the Governor, Alh. Yahaya Adoza Bello over the death of their sons who were the unfortunate victims of the communal clash between the waring parties.
Hon. Isah Abdulkarim in his key notes to the people of Gande and Edumose communities respectively states clearly that hitherto to development and stability of any society is unity, harmony and peace, he recounts that both communities shares the same ancestral history of the Egbura Koto speaking tribe of Igu Koton Karfe Kingdom and are also bounded by marriage ties.
He therefore points out that, it’s pertinacious for both communities to sheath their swords and allow peace to reign, this way a final and lasting resolutions will be met to end the decades crisis that has engulfed the people of the area.
Hon. Muhammed Muhktar Shu’aibu, Executive Chairman of Bassa local government in his statement praised the village heads of both communities for ensuring no further casualties were recorded, pleads with the youths of both Gande and Edumose communities to listen and respect their elders for peace to return to the lands.
SP Dominic Esin and SP Bello Samiu, both DPO’s of Bassa division and Kogi Koton Karfe division respectively and Mr. David, the head of DSS in Koto in their combined comments vets their displeasure on the handlings of the land matters, adding that, it’s unthinkable for the two communities who share the same heritage to engage in the shameful act, call on the people to reflect and imbibe the lives lived by their forefathers which yielded peaceful coexistence among them.
The Okumagu of the Egbura Koto people in Felele Alh. O. Musa representing the Ohimegye Igu of Koton Karfe Kingdom, Alh. Abdulrazaq Gambo Sani IsaKoto and the Shaba of Kpata, Alh. Yahaya Adama Lerama representing the Etsu Bassa-Nge Kingdom Major General Abu Ali (Rtd) in their separate remarks delivered the messages of both paramount rulers who warned that, violence is tantamount to disunity and destruction, noting that they must eschew violence and embrace peace for the people to live happily and maintain stability.
The Gaku of Edumose and the Ede of Gande while responding to both chairmen expresses their satisfactions in the step taken by the government to find a lasting solution to the lingering crisis, noting that, the land in question has claimed enough lives already, remorsefully prayed for the lives lost recently.
They also add that, while they seek for justice, fairness and equity to be served, whatever resolution reached by both chairmen to end the long aged crisis will be welcomed.
