60yrs Old Chief of Army Staff, Yusuf Buratai Now 38yrs in service, The longest Serving chief of Staff

Lieutenant General Tukur Yusuf Buratai, the Present Nigeria army chief of staff was born on the 24th of November 1960.

The 60 years old Chief of Army staff is from Buratai Town, in Biu Local Government Area of Borno State.

His father Yusuf Buratai is non commission officer of  the Royal West African Frontier Force.

Buratai begin his journey into the Nigeria army in 1981, when he gain admission into Nigerian Defence Academic in Kaduna.

Buratai who was enlisted into 29 regular combat course, was commission into the rank of Second Lieutenant, 17th of December 1983.

Buratai’s promotion dates are:

  • Lieutenant (January 1985)
  • Captain (January 1989)
  • Major (January 1994)
  • Lieutenant Colonel (January 1998)
  • Colonel (January 2004)
  • Brigadier General (January 2009)
  • Major General (January 2012)
  • Lieutenant General (August 2015).

Buratai Who took over Chief of army Staff from Kenneth Minimath in 2015 is currently the longest serving Chief of army staff in Nigeria with 38ths service Years.
