Governor Bello Inaugurate Heads of Higher Institutions, Charges them To Contribute to Kogi Education

Kogi state Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello has on Wednesday inaugurated the recently appointed heads of higher institutions in the State.

Those inaugurated include the Vice Chancellor of Prince Abubakar Audu University, the Rector of Kogi State Polytechnic, Provosts of the State Colleges of Education and that of School of Nursing and Midwifery and their chairmen and members of council.

The occasion took place in Lokoja with the Governor charging them to bring their experiences to bear on the sector by making sure that gradunads of the State higher institutions take with them more than the education but also quality characters that would make them exemplary citizens.

Governor Bello said his focus on education was because it is a major industry of the State, noting that it was a sector capable of enabling government to bequeath worthy legacy to the next generation.

He described the heads of institutions as people of impeccable character, appointed purely on the basis of their worthy contribution to the sector and impeccable character.

According to the Governor, Kogi State boasts of some of the best minds in the education sector, and challenged the new appointees to assists the state in its efforts to create a secured future for the State.

The Governor who described the event as epoch making said education is the bedrock of any development, without which many that occupy public offices would not have had the opportunity.

He promised to continue to do his best to ensure progress recorded under the administration was sustained, adding that the standard of education must be upped under his watch.

The Governor, who thanked stakeholders for their roles in tackling insecurity on camp across the state through discouragement and drastic reduction of cult related activities among students and other forms of acts that threaten security of lives and property.

In her vote of thanks, the Vice Chancellor of Prince Abubakar Audu University, Prof Marietu Tenuche promised that the new appointees would do all within their powers to ensure the confidence reposed in them was not misplaced.
