Timeline: The rise and fall of Invictus Obi

Nigerian entrepreneur, Obinwanne Okeke, popularly known as Invictus Obi has been sentenced to a 10-year jail term for computer and wire fraud by an American court.

Below is the timeline of his grace to grass story:

June 2016: Forbes listed Obinwanne Okeke as one of the influential young entrepreneurs on the African continent.

2017: CNBCA named Okeke as a finalist for Young Business Leader of the Year (West Africa).

August 2, 2019: An order of detention pending trial was filed at US federal Court in Norfolk, Virginia by the Federal Bureau of Investigation. A warrant of arrest was also issued on his person.

August 6, 2019: He was arrested at the Dulles International Airport, US by the FBI.

June 2020: He pleaded guilty to the allegation of conspiracy to commit wire fraud and agreed to cooperate with American authorities.

October 22, 2020: He was initially scheduled to be sentenced on this date.

February 2021: He was sentenced to 10 years in prison.
