FCT

Realising the need to promote our historical Origin and existence as well as unite , in order to promote infrastructure, Political , Economic and socio-cultural development of our region, with the sole aim of ensuring freedom , equity and Justice for our people and a United Nigeria.

The Middlebelt Identity

We have read and heard so many queries as to who the Middlebelt is and Whether he/she even exist at all. Some believe that no such People exist and no such geographical axis exists. Whether the skeptics accept it or not the Middlebelt phenomenon is a reality.

Gen. Sani Abacha, in his October 1, 1995 Independence day broadcast while presenting the 1995 Constitution. Divided the country into six geo-political zones
Northwest
Northeast
Middlebelt
SouthEast
Southwest
SouthSouth
The pronouncement was accepted with great Joy but some people considered the appellation repugnant and renamed the Zone North Central , nevertheless the Middlebelt concept is bigger and more real than any name or individual.

The Middlebelt Ideology

The important thing about an Ideology is that it provides the driving force a people’s behavior and action . Middlebeltans have all alone believed as if they do not have a core Interest they are
1- Our God giving Beautiful rich agricultural land which other Nigeria want a piece of.
2- Our Religions , which some Nigerians want to exterminate

Lost Opportunity

A golden opportunity to actualize the struggle for a free Middlebelt offered itself but was lost on May 6, 1956 . On the day Mal. Ibrahim Imam from Borno province moved a motion on the floor of Northern Region House of Assembly for creation of a Middlebelt Region but sadly other much debate and vilification of the mover of the motion , Ibrahim Imam and his lone supporter , Moses Myam Rwang , voting was done and the result was 2 in favour , 68 against and 5 abstention

All our representative from Kabba , Illorin, Benue, Adamawa, Kaduna and Plateau except Moses Myam Rwang opposed the motion for a Middlebelt Region. Very unfortunate , if our fore fathers then knew what is happening today to their Children they would have supported Mal. Ibrahim Imam from Borno and Mr. Moses Myam Rwang from Plateau for a Middlebelt Region then before the Independence of Nigeria.

Location of the Middlebelt Region

The Map you can see is Courtesy of the Willink Minority Commission of 1957 set up by the Queen’s Imperial Government prior to the granting of Independence in 1960. The fears of minority tribes and Religions of Nigeria reached the ears of her Majesty Government in great Britain and the Queen graciously set up a 7 man Commission headed by Mr..Willink to investigate the veracity of these fears. The Commission report included five maps one of which is a map that shows the location of minority groups in Nigeria with a Map showing the boundaries of minority groups in Northern Nigeria

Call for Action

The Middlebelt are a mixture of Christians and Muslims and Traditionalist who are also non Hausa -Fulani – Kanuri they need to create and forge their own ethnic Identity in order to build a powerful political bloc that can become a powerful political broker in national politics
