Gunmen killed Six policemen, Naval Officer in Anambra; burndown van, cart away arms

Unknown gunmen allegedly attacked and killed six Policemen and naval officer in different locations in Anambra State.

Omokoshaban learn that The incident happened on Thursday afternoon, at Neni and Awkuzu, Anaocha and Oyi Local Government Area of Anambra State.

Our source gathered that the policemen were killed at checkpoint, while the naval officer were killed at an outpost in Awkuzu, Oyi Local Government Area the state.

After killing the securities men, the gunmen set ablaze a police van in Neni, while carting away arms belonging to the slain policemen, while in Akuzu, the killed officer also lost his arms to the gunmen.

Other circumstances surrounding the attack, including the identity of the attackers were yet to be ascertained as at the time of filing this report.

The spokesperson for Anambra State police command, DSP Toochukwu Ikenga, said the command has received the report and was working to unravel the circumstances surrounding the report.

“We are still working and trailing the news, I hope to get back to you soon, when the details are complete,” he said.

There have been incidences of attacks and killing of security operatives in Anambra in the last two months.
