Commissioner Meets Education District II Principals, Challenges Then on Mind Renewal, Capacity Building

In continuation of her scheduled visit to the six education districts across Lagos State towards improving the performance of students and teachers in the public secondary schools, the Commissioner for Education, Mrs. Folasade Adefisayo has met with School Principals of Education District II, challenging them on mind renewal and capacity building.

The Commissioner, addressing 54 Senior Secondary School Principals present at the interactive session, implored them to develop friendlier approach to the teaching profession whereby it will be easy to transfer knowledge to the students, as well as get the best out of them.

She said the interactive session is aimed at reflecting on past performances and devising solutions to the various challenges confronting education in the State, noting that experience has shown that engaging school administrators in interactive sessions are important in creating a bond and exchanging ideas for improvement of the sector.

Encouraging the Principals to invest more in the lives of the school children, Adefisayo, charged them to face challenges that might come their ways headlong until the present narratives about government-owned schools change for the better through painstaking hard work.

Earlier, the Tutor-General/Permanent Secretary, Education District II, Mrs. Anike Adekanye, said that the support received from the State Government over the years has been a motivating factor for both the teaching and non-teaching staff of the District.

She added that the interactive session will equally be helpful to the school administrators in order to make them understand the T.H.E.M.E.S. Agenda of the present administration, especially as it concern the “Education and Technology” pillar.
