According to the chairman of the Kano Film Board, Isma’ila Na’abba Afakallahu, the song released by Bashir Dandago was illegally released.

He also used provocative and derogatory language against some teachers in Kano State, saying that doing so was against the rules of the state Film Censorship Board.

Afakallahu added: “Apart from the lack of censorship, the song presents a pattern of insults and abuse and seeks to provoke civil unrest or riots.

“Because anyone who has heard this song will know that it is not the same as the upbringing, dignity and social conditions that Malam Bahaushe is known for, by cultivating good manners and maintaining mutual respect.

“Bashir sang a song that did not bring official censorship and the song contains a lot of rhetoric that could provoke public outrage.

“The government has to take action against the people and insult the leaders. Teachers are leaders, are there leaders who are more than teachers? No, they are not.

“Because they are the people who attract people to show them to God and show them what is right,” Afakallahu said.

Although Bashir Dandago’s name does not mention a single person, he did so as a metaphor, Afakallahu said his main fault was his refusal to seek permission to perform the song in the first place.

“The first rule is that if you sing, you have to refine it. The main principle that begins to break down before you get into the subject of what is in the song is that it is not easy for him to go and sing.

“This is the most important thing that a community should start to understand.

“And he was one of those who sat down and evaluated the poets on this committee as a role model
