I want to quit going to church since no one can explain these two Bible verses to me

We sometimes need to set theological understandings aside and confront issues with common sense, asking questions when or if we don’t understand anything.

Some Bible verses have very similar meanings, and we, as amateur biblical scholars, can get confused when attempting to translate them to our own understanding.

The tale of Goliath’s death and the question of who killed him has occupied my thoughts for some time, and I’ve been trying to figure out who was the original slayer of the giant from Gath.

Two Bible verses in total contradict one another, and I’d like to see if someone can help me understand these two verses so that I can know the true person who killed Goliath as mentioned in the Bible.

Young David’s prowess and confidence were demonstrated when he used a catapult and a smooth stone to fire at Goliath’s head, then proceeded to cut off his head with a blade. There was no mention of someone else supporting or assisting David in that verse, and he didn’t have any other name than the one he was given when he was born.

Goliath is killed by another person named el hanan in the second verse of 2 Samuel 21:19, which completely contradicts Goliath’s initial death in 1 Samuel 17:50.

Goliath had already died in the first verse (1 Samuel 17:50), so where did the Goliath elhanan kill one in 2 Samuel 21:19 come from? I’m sure you’re as perplexed as I am.
