Nasarawa University VC charges New Lecturers to lead by Example

The Vice-Chancellor of Nasarawa State University, Keffi, Prof. Suleiman Bala Mohammed, has charged newly recruited Graduate Assistant Lecturers to justify their appointment by taking the responsibility thrust their shoulders seriously and lead by example.

Prof. Mohammed gave the charge on Friday at the Senate Chamber of the University during an interface between the University’s Principal Officers and the over ninety newly appointed lecturers.

Nasarawa State University, Keffi recently employed graduate assistants in training to provide more hands and human resources in advancing the institution’s research capabilities.

He advised the academic greenhorns to seek mentorship from experienced senior colleagues and professors, as this will help them become better in their chosen careers.

While admonishing them to be modest, he also urged them to waste no time acquiring their second degrees to ensure they get their proper placements as Assistant Lecturers in the University or be shown the way out.

The Registrar of the University, Mallam Bala I Ahmed II, said the new lecturers were strictly appointed on merit.

The policy for recruiting Graduate Assistants, he noted, stipulates that only candidates with a First Class Degree or Second Class Upper Division can be appointed.

He said the new employees are indigenes of the state and products of the University.

There were goodwill messages from the DVC Academics, Prof. Haruna Kuje Ayuba, the DVC Administration, Prof. Saadatu Hassan Liman, the University Librarian, Dr. Aliyu Abdulkadir, and the Director Quality Assurances and Servicom, Prof. Ari Maikano.
