Yobe’s only elected female council chairperson breaks record, records more achievements than her male counterparts.

Halima Kyari Joda was elected as Fika local government chairperson in November, 2020 under the platform of APC. She’s the second female elected as local government chairperson in Yobe since the creation of the state in 1991.

Having understood that Fika has problems of potable drinking water, because of the nature of their land; boreholes are drill down to over 500-600mitres to get water.

Against all odds, Joda provided several solar boreholes to several Fika communities by liaising with development partners, and repaired several existing boreholes. She equally provided utility vehicles to Vigilante groups. She also distributed agricultural inputs to hundreds of farmers, empowerment programs to vulnerable women.

Joda again, renovated several schools and healthcare centers across her local government.

Her performance has been rated far and ahead of her counterparts.
