Late Musa Uthman: TRIBUTE TO A GREAT MAN. By Adamu YAKUBU.

Yesterday I had the opportunity and privilege of being amongst the sympathisers at the burial of a great man, a big man before the Allmighty Allah.

Mal. Musa Abdullahi (kwarkwar) was a referee from Jo’s who had spent over 30 years of his life cleaning the whole premises of the Sultan Bello mosque. This he did daily from early morning till noon. He resides solely in the mosque and did no other activity except the 5 obligatory prayers and preached occasionally to the congregatìon. He travelled once a year for two days to visit his mum and gave her presents. He had never been married, neither had he shown any interest in worldly issues.
On being told of his demise, what immediately came to my mind was “what a lucky man”!
Laying by his grave before being finally buried, it occurred to me that his sufferings as a poor man were finally over. I however knew that during his lifetimes, he never considered his life as that of a suffering poor man. He was merely serving his Creator only.
I also imagined if the richest deadman was to be laid by his side, what would the Joy’s and pleasures of the rich and the suffering of the poor meant to them now that they lay dead?
I also imagined the very few questions Mal Musa will have to answer as against those to be answered by the rich man.
This also reminded me of the Hadith where the Holly Prophet Mohammed (SAW) asked for the whereabouts of the female cleaner. On being told that she died and was buried the day before, the Holy Prophet (SAW) went to her grave and prayed for her. He informed the gathering that the woman was a great woman before Allah due to her services for Islam.
In the same vein, we pray for Allah to accept Mal. Musa’s Shahada and admit him to Jannah Fir Dausi. Ameen.
