IPOB: Unknown Gun Men enforcing now-suspended sit-at-home in southeast Shot Dr. Return home from Work

At four corners, Enugwu, Unknown Gun Men enforcing the now-suspended but still operational sit-at-home in the southeast, today shot a medical doctor going home from work after doing his night shift. A truck parked at the same venue had its four tyres damaged

At Umueze close to ESUT, a middle aged man was shot dead.

In Eke Agbani and Oriemba Akpugo market, they rained gunshots in the air and inflicted matchet cuts on not less than 5 people while those selling food and other road side wares had their goods thrown away. A very popular woman known as “nwanyi Agbani” who sells cooked rice and ofe aku (banga soup) in Oriemba every morning had her food thrown away.

As a result of the shooting, major markets even in the interior parts of the town like Nkwo Akpugo and afor-inyi market reputed for daily sale of fresh palm wine closed immediately.

Semblance of calm only returned following the appearance of the Police and the military.

The bigger tragedy here is that we have now become so de-sensitized to this mindless internal harvests of blood and destruction in Ala-Igbo to the point we now see them as the new normal which we have no choice but to learn to live with.

A shame, isn’t it?
