Obasanjo wasn’t gifted power – Segalink Give reasons why Obasanjo come to power in 1999

Segalink reply twitter user who says Olusegun Obasanjo was gifted power in 1999 because he a Yoruba man.

George Damian took to his Twitter handle this morning to tweet on how former President of Nigeria, Olusegun Obasanjo become Nigeria Civilian President in 1999 after the death of Former Head of State, Sani Abacha.

Abacha who is the head of State, died in office and General Abdulsalam took over, which he later hand over to Democratically elected President Olusegun Obasanjo in 1999.

George Damian in his tweet says that Obasanjo was gifted the president seat base on tribal sentiment.

He said:

Power was gifted to Obasanjo and the Yorubas in 1999 based on ethnic sentiments, they didn’t build any gaddam bridge, they didn’t negotiate nor formed allience with anybody.

Reacting to the tweet, Segalink said:

There’s a lot you need to learn about politics unfortunately we no longer teach history in schools. Obasanjo wasn’t gifted power but handed a responsibility being one of the class of 66 (Military Clearing House) to restore hope after the military interregnum. There’s no free meal
