SOS: ‘My Sister Was Asked To Stop Coming To Work Over Epilepsy’

A cleaner, Banke Olanrewaju, has lost her job due to a neurological disorder, epilepsy.

Olanrewaju’s elder sister, Seun, who spoke to our correspondent revealed that she had been suffering the disorder for the past seven years and they were only able to manage it about three years ago when they went to the hospital and she was diagnosed.

Seun, who is a petty trader said, “She wasn’t born like that. Banke started having these fits seven years ago. We took her to all sorts of places but got no solution. Until about three years ago, when we went to the hospital and she was diagnosed.

“Since then she has been taking medications to manage the condition. Unfortunately, we have not been able to buy the drugs since the end of January. I don’t have any money. We need help please.”

On Banke’s job, she said, “She used to work at a filling station and that was how she was getting small money but was asked to stop coming because of her condition.

“They don’t want her to hurt herself on their premises if she suffers a fit while at work.”

Seun said that the medication that her sister needs costs N12,800 per month.
