Two Immigration Officers Banned From Airports For Extorting N8000 From 14-year-old

The Federal Airport Authority Of Nigeria has banned two officers of the Nigerian Immigration Service from its airports.

The officials were banned for extorting N8000 from a 14-year-old passenger.

The mother of the passenger, a chef, Imoteda, had raised an alarm about the activities of the officials in February.

In a statement signed by its Acting General Manager, Corporate Affairs, Mrs Faithful Hope-Ivbaze, the allegations were investigated and it was discovered that Chef Imoteda’s claims were valid.

Part of the statement read, “Upon investigation, they found the allegations to be true, as the officers involved were identified with the help of footages on our CCTV facilities and with the cooperation from the Nigerian Immigration Service.

“Consequently, the officers were made to refund the exact amount collected from the passenger.

“Their On Duty Cards were also withdrawn permanently and they have been banned from working in any Nigerian airport to serve as deterrent to others.”

Reacting to FAAN, Imoteda said, “Got a refund and an apology from multiple people.
The guys at FAAN were very communicative through out the process.”
