Police arrest man for killing his best-man and fleeing with his car and N2m

Police operatives in Niger State have arrested a 25-year-old man, Bashir Ibrahim, for allegedly killing his friend who was his best-man at his wedding last year in Tudun-Fulani area of the state.

The suspect was arrested on April 19, alongside his brother, Aliyu Ibrahim, 22, and one Abdullahi Garba, 22.

According to a statement by the command’s spokesperson, DSP Wasiu Abiodun, “On April 12, the deceased, Hassan Shehu, 28, who was a businessman at Kure Market, Minna was invited to Tudun-fulani area of Bosso by the prime suspect for a purported business transaction.

Unfortunately, he was allegedly stabbed to death on arrival to the venue, in an apartment by the suspect who later escaped from the scene with the victim’s Peugeot 206 vehicle and about N2million there-in the vehicle. He was, however, arrested on the 19th alongside his brother, Ibrahim.

During interrogation, the suspects confessed to the crime stating that they conspired with a 29-year-old man, Suleiman Mahmud, presently at large, to tie the victim and dispossessed him of the money in his car, but on entering the house, the deceased struggled with the said Suleiman while Aliyu stabbed the victim on the chest and was abandoned till he bled to death.

A 22-year-old man, Abdullahi Garba, was equally apprehended for purchasing the victim’s phone from Aliyu at the rate of N3k with an exchange of another phone.”
