Killing in the name of Religion Blasphemy in Northern Nigeria has been going for Long.

The latest one is the killing of Deborah Samuel, Christian lady killed in Sokoto State on the 12th of May 2022 by some Muslim youth over allegations of insulting Prophet Muhammad (SAW).

Today Naijablog, bring you chapter and verse of Qur’an Many Islamic scholar in Nigeria has mis interested just to cause religion Crisis in the Country.

Qur’an is the holy Book of Muslim, is only Scripture send to Prophet Muhammad directly.

No other books, besides Qur’an.

Hadiths is a research works by some Scholar to interpret Qur’an and also give account of life and time of Prophet Muhammad.

So Qur’an come first, anything you fine in Hadiths and is not in the Qur’an, please disregard it, don’t believe in it.

So today we pick Qur’an Chapter 5 Verse 33.

This Verse of Qur’an has been misinterpreted by some Muslim scholar, most from Northern Nigeria.

Many of scholar misinterpret the verse by saying that Penalty for Blasphemy is Death.

Read the Qur’an below yourself;

إِنَّمَا جَزَٰٓؤُاْ ٱلَّذِينَ يُحَارِبُونَ ٱللَّهَ وَرَسُولَهُۥ وَيَسۡعَوۡنَ فِي ٱلۡأَرۡضِ فَسَادًا أَن يُقَتَّلُوٓاْ أَوۡ يُصَلَّبُوٓاْ أَوۡ تُقَطَّعَ أَيۡدِيهِمۡ وَأَرۡجُلُهُم مِّنۡ خِلَٰفٍ أَوۡ يُنفَوۡاْ مِنَ ٱلۡأَرۡضِۚ ذَٰلِكَ لَهُمۡ خِزۡيٞ فِي ٱلدُّنۡيَاۖ وَلَهُمۡ فِي ٱلۡأٓخِرَةِ عَذَابٌ عَظِيمٌ

Indeed, the penalty for those who wage war against Allah and His Messenger and spread mischief in the land is death, crucifixion, cutting off their hands and feet on opposite sides, or exile from the land. This ˹penalty˺ is a disgrace for them in this world, and they will suffer a tremendous punishment in the Hereafter.

Innama jazao allatheenayuhariboona Allaha warasoolahu wayasAAawna feeal-ardi fasadan an yuqattaloo aw yusallabooaw tuqattaAAa aydeehim waarjuluhum min khilafin awyunfaw mina al-ardi thalika lahum khizyun fee addunyawalahum fee al-akhirati AAathabun AAatheem

Those who fight against Allah and His Messenger and run about trying to spread disorder on the earth, their punishment is no other than that they shall be killed, or be crucified, or their hands and legs be cut off from different sides, or they be kept away from the land (they live in). That is a humiliation for them in this world, and for them there is a great punishment in the Hereafter;

-Surah Al-Ma’idah, Ayah 33

The above verse, prescribe death, crucifixion, cutting off their hands and feet on opposite sides, or exile from the land, as punishment for those who wage war against Allah.

So the above verse didn’t specifically speak about Blasphemy, some will say what is Blasphemy?

The above verse is not any way relates to Blasphemy.
