‘ASUU Suspension Of Strike, Nothing To Cheer About

The Academic Staff Union of Universities on Friday suspended its eight-month strike.

As expected, the suspension of the strike has been generating reactions across social media platforms, with some users declaring that the suspension of the strike was not cheering news given its impact on the students and the educational sector as a whole.

A popular tweep, Nefertiti, said, “ASUU strike called off after eight months, is not something to be cheerful about. I write this with great sadness. Education is the bedrock of every nation, without it, a nation is doomed. There are no winners here, only losers. Adamu Adamu’s National honour should be withdrawn.”

Another tweep, ODERA, asked for the conditions attached to the action saying, “What are the conditions. You said conditionally but didn’t list the conditions. Does that mean we should be expecting another strike soon.”

“Eight months strike. Anybody thinking of going to public university in Nigeria should have a rethink omo! Buhari messed everything up,” a tweep, Gideon Fidy, advised.

Another tweep, crescent_£, asked what ASUU achieved after the eight months strike. He said, “So what did ASUU achieve in all this wasted months and how’s the achievement going to help students?”
