A 14-year-old pupil at Kiriari primary school committed suicide after being sent home to collect his school fee balance in Kigumo village, Embu County, Kenya.
According to The Star media on Tuesday, the area assistant chief, Nelson Muturi, said the boy arrived home from school and found his mother attending to his siblings.
He went to the house after a brief conversation with his mother and after his mother prepared to escort him back to school, she discovered him dangling from the roof.
The village elder, Reverend Robert Nyaga, described the boy as an obedient child who made an unusual decision.
Mwenda’s body was moved to the mortuary as investigations are underway.
