The Interior Minister, retired Lt.-Gen. Abdulrahman Dambazau,  on Thursday inaugurate the first ever country immigration patrol base in the border  of Katsina inaugurated the country’s first operational border patrol base established by the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS).

The base, situated at Mazanya community in Jibiya Local Government Area neighbouring Niger Republic, is part of events by the NIS to efficiently police the country’s extensive boundaries.

Represented by Mr Mohammed Umar, the Permanent Secretary in his ministry, Dambazau alleged the competence would add motivation to the nation’s combat against irregular relocation and cross-border misconduct.

The minister detailed that the President Muhammadu Buhari administration was functioning on all faces to ensure inner security, with active border policing as one of the precedence areas.  Even though praising the NIS for the ingenuity, Dambazau advised officers who would maintain the bases and supplementary border patrol units to unceasingly show consciousness of their part.  He worried the need for them to work faithfully with other security agencies particularly in the area of information distribution and joint tasks along the border where compulsory.  The Comptroller General of Immigration, Mr Muhammad Babandede, alleged the project was a demonstration of the agencys vow to active patrol and nursing of the nation’s extensive borders to control irregular immigration.
