Group Protests Against Creation Of Four More Emirates In Kano

Some group have stage protest to show their disagreement over the creation of more than four Emirates in Kano State.

Report has it that a group known as “Kano First has led a protest against the creation of four more emirates in Kano State”.

Members of the group were said to have assembled at Gidan Muritala, carrying placards and expressing their disagreement over the passage of the bill by the state House of Assembly.

The bill was passed on Wednesday, Governor Ibrahim Ganduje of Kano, also assented to it, the same day.

The bill give way for the decentralisation of the Kano Emirate council thereby depreciating the power of Emir.

The group, urged the government to focus more on the issues affecting people, such as reduction of revenues, healthcare, raise of insecurity and educational challenges.

They stress that creation of more emirates will result to unnecessary spending of the state money.

They, then called for intervention from President Muhammad Buhari and other stakeholders to stop Kano State governor from creating the four new emirates and tampering with the cultural heritage of the state.
