UNICEF commends AbdulRazaq, declares intent to partner Kwara again after 10years

Members of United Nations Children’s Fund today visited the Kwara State governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq after almost a decade of not engaging the state.

The meeting which was the formal reintegration of Kwara State into the UNICEF wing was facilitated by the vision and recent financial commitment of Gov AbdulRazaq in the health sector.

For almost 10 years, UNICEF has taken a back sit in assisting Kwara state due to the lack of responsive attitude of the past administration and the overwhelming tendencies of misappropriation of funds meant for intentional purposes.

Dr. Zakari Adam, Chief of Field office, UNICEF Kaduna zone where Kwara state falls under the organization grouping today stated that UNICEF not engaging Kwara over the years was due to both internal and external factors which commitment of previous administrations would have played a great role if they had shown readiness to key into the goals of the highly respected organization.

Dr. Zakari commended the governor for his remarkable decisions in saving lives especially his release of funds in order to allow the state key into several beneficial initiative of the federal government of Nigeria which will in no little way reduce mortality rate in the state. He also communicated UNICEF’s readiness to partner Abdulrazaq’s administration to further salvage the situation and remedy the ruins.

While corroborating Dr. Zakari, Mr. Rabiu Musa a Communication Specialist with UNICEF said they have highlighted various sectors they will partner the state, promised to deliver a more robust plans and execution framework that will see to the utilization of funds to help those who truly needs it.

Furthermore, Mr Rabiu stated that the partnership between the state was brought to a halt almost 10years ago but the current shape of things in the state’s present administration have warranted them to resume the partnership talks for the greater good of the state.
