The governor of Imo State, Chief Emeka Ihedioha has been accused of displaying a frightening proclivity for showiness and drama, as some interest groups in the State have lambasted him for what they described as “uncoordinated governance hinged on blackmail and vendetta.”

This is coming as the governor abandoned State business to go on some wasteful showboating at his native Mbaise, where he commissioned about ten poles of solar powered street light.

The governor who was said to have treated his Japanese guests, journalists and other invitees who joined him at his Mbutu residence to sumptuous meals, downed with expensive wines, was in Ezinihitte Mbaise to commission solar powered poles for lighting less than one kilometer stretch of road in Ezeagbogu community of Ezinihitte Mbaise.

The Japanese ambassador to Nigeria, Mr. Yataka Kikuta was a special guest at the occasion originally organized by Development Dynamics, a respected Non Governmental Organization, which attracted the street lighting project to the community.

Commentators believe that the governor’s seeming addiction to camera flashes may dig deep holes in the purse of Imo State, as occasions such as this one are unnecessary and expensive.

According to Chief Chima Eneukwu who is from Ezeagbogu community, he was surprised to see the governor attend an event of no significance as this one. According to him;

“Maybe this governor has a lot of time for social events. The former governor doesn’t even bother about commissioning roads, not to talk of street lights, that he didn’t even build. Anyway, he is welcome.”
