FBI LIST: WE CAN’T DENY OUR OWN IN TIMES OF TROUBLE – IHEDIOHA

By Johnbull Chikwe

As the controversy over the involvement of a key Ihedioha political ally continues to rage, mum has been the word, for the embattled Imo State governor and his retinue of media aides.

Unlike, the Minister of State for Niger-Delta Affairs, Festus Keyamo, who came out immediately to clear the air on his relationship with one of the arrested fraudsters, Chief Ihedioha has chosen to keep mum over his relationship with the young man, and his reaction to his alleged involvement in a multi-million Dollars internet scam.

For some analysts, Chief Ihedioha’s silence on this issue can only mean one thing; “solidarity with the young internet scammer”.

In what seems like a confirmation of this analysis, a senior aide of the governor, and spokesman to the fledgling campaign organization, Kissinger Ikeokwu, had through a Facebook post, lampooned those criticizing the said Chika Odionyemma, arguing that the young man is someone’s brother, friend and even partner. He argued that the Mr. Odionyemma does not deserve the massive media onslaught against him, as he has not been found guilty.

Meantime, an Imo based anti-corruption activist, Onwuasoanya FCC Jones has given the Imo State governor, 48 hours ultimatum to make a statement on his relationship with Mr. Chika Odionyemma or he would forward a petition to all the embassies in Nigeria, declaring the governor a godfather of fraudsters. In his words;

“This development is embarrassing to the image of our dear State, and the governor’s silence is becoming too loud for comfort. I demand, that the governor issues a statement clarifying on his relationship with the fugitive fraudster or I will be left with no other option but to forward a petition to all the embassies and consuls in Nigeria, demanding that the governor be investigated for sponsoring and or shielding criminals.”

“If the governor does not denounce Odionyemma and others like him, who seem to have formed a formidable nucleus within the Ihedioha government, then, it will only suggest that our governor is the godfather of fraudsters, and this will be most unfortunate.”
