Hon. Eghe Ogbemudia handles a revenue defaulter

At about 4:30pm today, 9th October, 2019, a commercial taxi driver, Mr. Ola Ruben who claimed to be in the services of Osas Logistics Carb, was arrested at Uwasota junction by Egor revenue collectors, for deliberately failing to pay the statutory revenue money for vehicles on commercial platforms which was in Egor local government council jurisdiction.

While being processed at the revenue department, Mr. Ola Ruben, caused a distraction and attempted to speed off with his car, from the premises.

In the course of doing so, he recklessly and destructively hits a gate and fence of the council, and extensively damaged them along with his car.

Hon. Eghe Ogbemudia, the Executive Chairman, Egor Local Government Council Area, whose attention was drown to the incident, made a preliminary appraisal of the incident and directed the police be invited to investigate the remote course of the matter.

No life was lost.

The driver was not manhandled at any point, but the damage coursed to the fence and gate of the council as a result of his attempt to escape with his car, was extensive.

Hon. Eghe Ogbemudia, described the incident as very unfortunate and wondered why the driver would go this length to attempt to avoid payment of revenue, for doing business in Egor.

Judging from the humongous damages done not just to the drivers vehicle, but also to the property of the council in general, she said it was all avoidable.

Amongst those with Hon. Eghe Ogbemudia, the Executive Chairman, Egor Local Government Council Area in carrying out inspection of the unfortunate incident, was the Head of Egor local government Administration, Dr. Charles Okpere, the Head of the Technical Department, Engr. Edwin Omoregbee and the head of revenue department amongst others, where very much on ground.

The matter has since been taken over by a Police team of the textilmil road division who promptly responded to the call made by Hon. Eghe Ogbemudia for assistance.
