Kogi State Govt Distributes Relief Materials To Flood Communities In Kogi LGA

The Kogi State Government has distributed relief materials to flood communities in the Kogi (KKF) local government area in the state, the benefited Electoral wards are as follows: Kotonkarfe South East, Irenedu, Ukwo, Odaki, Gegu North, Gegu South, Akpasu, Girinya, Tawari, Chikari North and Chikara South respectively and representatives of affected communities were all present during the distributions ceremony held in all the affected areas.

Some of the distributed items include bags of fertilizer, fishing nets, hook and line among other things.

Addressing Kogi LG Stakeholders during the distribution of materials to officials of the benefiting LG, the Kogi State Governor, Mr. Yahaya Adoza Bello who was represented by his Commissioner for local government and chieftaincy affairs, Hon. Abubakar Sadiq Ohere said the gesture was the mandate to ensure that flood victims in the state were given the necessary support to alleviate their plights.

Engr. Ohere assured that the state government would continue with the distribution of items to other areas affected by the flood, including other Local Government Area (LGAs) in the State.

He said, “You know the primary responsibility of any government is on security and the welfare of the people. Of course, we have been doing this and will continue to expand our reach to other victims.

Recently, rainstorms affected some of our local councils and Governor Bello immediately intervened, promising to send more relief materials to victims. That’s why we are here today.”

According to him, “the distribution process will be transparent as the government has already constituted an audit committee, while the Local Government Emergency Management Committee (LGEC) headed by the chairmen of the councils will ensure that only persons affected by the flood disaster benefit from the distribution.”

The beneficiaries and stakeholders who spoke onbehalf of their people in a lead was Kogi LG APC Elder Advisory Concil, Mall. Danladi Musa Yahaya Shadow commended the governor for the intervention, said Governor Yahaya Adoza Bello has continued to match his promises to the Kogi LG people with actions.

The representatives of the council Administrator of Kogi LG, Barr. Muhammed Tanko Musa Osuku, was his Personal Assistant on General Assignment, Hon. Abdulkarim Abdullaziz (Oruma) and DG Campaign, Hon. Muhammed Isah SK, while applauding the governor’s magnanimity, described the distribution of items as timely.

They, however, assured of the council’s readiness to deliver the items for onward distribution to the victims of flooding in the council area, noting that only the affected victims would benefit as spelled out on the distribution list.

Kogi LG Education Secretary, Usman Salihu thanked the governor for his show of love and concern, particularly towards the welfare of the people.

According to E.S, the Kogi LG populace would continually support the BellOnoja-led administration in its bid to empower citizens of the state, especially those affected by flooding.
