Lawyer arraigned for alleged N21 Million fraud by EFCC

The Economic and Financial crime commission (EFCC) has arraigned a lawyer over N21 Million frauds.

The lawyer who was identified as Benki Iortyom Womboh was arraigned by the Makurdi, zonal office of the commission yesterday.

The commission report read ” The EFCC, Makurdi zonal office, on November 21, 2019, arraigned one Benki Iortyom Womboh, a lawyer, before Justice Mobolaji Olajuwon sitting at the Federal High Court, Makurdi, Benue State. He was arraigned on a two – count charge of fraud to the tune of N21, 000,000 (Twenty One Million Naira) only.

“Barrister Womboh was also alleged to have refused to furnish the Commission with relevant information required in the declaration of Assets Form. Besides, the Lawyer allegedly accepted cash payment above the threshold, without going through a financial institution.”
