Yesterday the pragmatic Chairman of Eket Local Government Area,Hon.Frank Archibong paid a surprise visit to Eket Timber Market Located at Ikot Usoekong in Eket Local Government Area.
During the visit,the council helmsman meet and interacted with the timber dealers,focusing on ways to run an effective & efficient administration which will improve the well being of timber dealers.
After a thorough deliberations & interactions with the timber dealers a decision was taken to form a five man advisory committee which will work together with the timber dealers to ensure peace,unity & progress of the market.
Speaking during the meeting, the council boss task all timber dealers to embrace the Dakkada initiative of His Excellency,Deacon Udom Emmanuel which is a major tool for economic development.
Mr Frank Archibong urge all members to eschew violence and live together for a progressive business environment which in turn will lead to an increase in profit & thereby improve the standard of living & per capita income of sellers & the Local Government Council.
Speaking in separate speeches,Mr Okon Atang and Mr Nkereuwem Mkpandiok commended the council boss for his leadership prowess and promise to work together for over all interest of the market to foster growth and progress of their members.
After due deliberations and consultation, a five man advisory committee was set up to work together with the timber dealers.
The members of the committee are:Hon.Godwin Isang,Obongiwaad Emmanuel Mbong,Chief Akwaekong Idim,Hon.Ekanem Willie & Hon.Hon Victor Itauma.
Present at the meeting were,Hon.Frank Archibong,Executive Chairman,Eket LGA,Eket Area Commander,DPO Eket & Ikot Udota Division,Hon.Ekanem Willie,Hon.Godwin Isang,Chief Akwaekong Idim,Hon.Kingsley Umem,Comrade TommyEnodien & Comrade Mfon Bassey.
